Counselling / PSI
BADAS recognises and values the individuality of all those people who access their services and know that not everybody is at the same stage or will want exactly the same level of support or intervention. Knowing this we try to reflect it in the type and range of services we offer and particularly in the range of social, psychological and counselling support available with our specialist workers.
We aim to respond to the need presented and as such offer a range of structured support which can vary in time and intensity but always within a supportive working environment.
If advice is wanted or the person feels they are ready to make a commitment to changing their drug or alcohol use then these sessions might be the right way forward.
There are a range of sessions available. A short 20 – 30 minute session that might help with a crisis situation or simply to test out how counselling might work. We also have a referral service where an individual can see the same person over a series of longer appointments (usually 6) to explore issues in more depth and goals are set for what the individual wants to achieve and a contract is agreed between the counsellor and the individual. Once the sessions have been completed the worker and the individual will review progress and decide if further sessions are needed.
We also offer a range of programmes for groups such as confidence building, relapse prevention and many others.
Doing this type of work on drug and alcohol issues requires commitment from the individual and the desire to make positive life changes.
