Structured Support

Social Work

Within the team at BADAS there are specialist social workers who provide services in the following areas;

Where a service user is in need of community care services because of their mental health or other disability, age or illness, including the need for residential rehabilitation due to their substance misuse.

Where a family is in need
Where a child or young person is at risk of significant harm or involved in an investigation and the parent / carer needs the involvement of substance misuse treatment services

Home visits
The specialist social workers are available to give an expert opinion to staff within BADAS working with individuals and to staff in other agencies with concerns about problematic substance misuse for individuals or within families.

They will support service users in need of community care services due to their mental health, disability, age or illness, including residential rehabilitation to treat their substance misuse. A social worker will be allocated to the case.

Depending upon the nature of the case the Social Worker will either provide support to other professionals involved within the case or will provide specific Social work intervention and liaison with statutory services and procedures.

A Social Worker will support service users in applying for and accessing residential rehabilitation services by advocating on their behalf through the Residential Rehabilitation Panel, chaired by Barnsley DAAT.
